Photo: Stolen 15th-Century Map Finds Way Back to Spain

After passing through at least four continents, this stolen 15th-century map was returned to Spain's National Library on Monday, February 4, 2008.

The map was based on calculations taken by Ptolemy, the second-century Greek astronomer.

What makes this map especially valuable is its remarkable coloring and near perfect state of preservation, a library spokesperson said.
