A Centaur rocket is hurtled toward the moon from the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, in an artist's rendering.

LCROSS will hitch a ride to the moon aboard NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, slated to launch on June 18, 2009.
