Photo: Snow Falling on Mars "Seen" by NASA Lander

A weather station on board NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander recorded the above profile of a Martian cloud on the 99th sol, or Martian day, of the mission.

Swooping vertical streaks on the right side of the image represent falling ice crystals similar to snow on Earth, scientists announced in September 2008.
