Photo: Olympic Ski Jumpers Use Wind Tunnels for Training Boost

Dimitry Mateev of Russia competes in the ski jump February 15 in Pragelato, Italy. The V-shaped ski technique was introduced by Swedish ski jumper Jan Boklov in 1985. The technique results in greater surface area and thus greater lift than the previously standard parallel-ski style of jumping.
