Photo: Shark Declines Threaten Shellfish Stocks, Study Says



Sandbar sharks (Carcharhinus plumbeus) are just one of the major species of large, North Atlantic shark that have been devastated by overfishing.

The declines have allowed smaller sharks, skates, and rays to flourish—and the shellfish these creatures eat are now paying the price, scientists say.
