Photo: Mystery Glaciers Growing as Most Others Retreat



Two South American glaciers (including the Perito Moreno glacier, seen above on October 16, 2003) have been growing, although their neighbors have shrunk due to a warming climate.

Scientists have offered various theories for their expansion, including periodic "glacial surges," but the cause remains a mystery.
