Photo: 2007 Hurricane Season Will Be "Very Active," Forecasters Say



Tropical storm Ernesto was one of only two named storms to make landfall in 2006, despite predictions of a much more active hurricane season.

Today experts predicted that 17 named storms will form in the Atlantic during the 2007 season. Nine of the storms will become hurricanes, the forecasters said, five of which will become major hurricanes with sustained winds greater than 111 miles (178 kilometers) an hour.
