Photo: Satellites Can Warn of Floods, Landslides Worldwide, Scientists Say



Flood victims stand stranded on dry land on March 2, 2000, in Mozambique. The African country was at the time hit by severe floods, leaving tens of thousands of people homeless. Scientists hope that new satellite technology will be able to detect heavy rains and rising waters anywhere in the world, providing time to warn people of potential disaster.
