Photo: Hubble Repair Mission Approved by NASA



Perhaps one of the most iconic images ever taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, this picture of the so-called Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula was released in 1995.

Today NASA announced it will go forward with a final repair mission to the aging telescope, keeping it operational until its replacement is launched in 2013.
