Photo: World's Smallest Snake Discovered, Study Says

Resting on a U.S. quarter, the newly discovered Barbados threadsnake is the world's smallest snake, a new study says.

It may even be the smallest snake possible, according to biologist Blair Hedges. Any further miniaturization, he said, would prevent the snakes from producing offspring large enough to find food on its own and consume insects.
