Photo: Human Skin Cells Given Stem Cell Properties



A new technique for giving skin cells stem-cell-like properties may help ease ethical and political concerns over the highly controversial research topic.

To test their new technique, scientists injected mice with the altered cells. The animals successfully developed teratomas—tumors containing many different types of tissue, including neural tissue (seen here), cartilage, and gut epithelium.
