Photo: Ecuador Holds Park "Ransom," Threatens Drilling



Ecuador will open bidding for a major oil project in Yasuní National Park—a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve pictured above in a May 17, 2007 aerial photo—if the international community doesn't pony up to preserve the area, the country's oil minister said, citing "shared responsibility" for forest preservation.
