March 7, 2008—The Japanese whaling vessel Nisshin Maru is pictured in this undated photograph taken from the Steve Irwin, an anti-whaling activists' ship chasing it.

There were conflicting reports today about the latest high seas clash between the two ships' crews, with activists saying bullets were fired and Japan insisting that only warnings were aimed at the protestors.
