Cardinal tetra fish show off the primary-color finery that helps make them popular among aquarium owners.

The pets have traditionally been caught the old-fashioned way, by fishers in canoes along Brazil's Rio Negro. A new cardinal tetra farm in Florida, though, may threaten the fish's home in the Amazon Basin—and the communities that live there.
