Photo: Extinction Threatens Half of Primate Types, Study Says



The gray-shanked douc (Pygathrix cinerea)—seen above—is a primate native to Vietnam that is listed as critically endangered by the IUCN.

About half of the world's apes, monkeys, and other kinds of primates are in danger of extinction, according to a study published in August 2008.
