Photo: $20-Million Prize for Renewable Ocean Energy Announced

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond announced the creation of a new U.S. 20-million-dollar prize to inspire breakthroughs in marine renewable energy technology at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington on April 2, 2008.

The contest to design less polluting forms of energy comes in response to climate change, "the single most pressing issue facing the planet," Salmond said.
