Photo: Majority Votes to Legalize Whaling



A whale is hauled onto a fishing boat after it was killed in the name of science in the Atlantic Ocean off Iceland in 2003.

At the annual International Whaling Commission meeting in June 2006, a majority of member countries voted to overturn the ban on commercial whaling, but they lacked the three-fourths majority needed to legalize the hunt.
