A hundred and sixty-five new orchid species, including Arachnorchis oreophi (pictured), have been discovered in Australia in the past decade, according to a September 2009 report.

Among the other plant discoveries include the "flesh eating" pitcher plant, which can grow up to 39 inches (100 centimeters) tall and devours small rats, lizards, and even birds.
