Marysville, Australia, May 7, 2009--A new tree sprouts three months after "Black Saturday," when an outbreak of wildfires claimed the highest number of Australian lives in history.

The more than 400 blazes on February 7 led to 173 deaths, destroyed more than 2,000 homes, and ravaged entire towns. (See pictures of the deadly Australia fires and their aftermath.)
