Formerly a Renault automobile factory, Seguin Island in the Seine west of Paris would become a landmark of green, solar-powered design as envisioned by French architect Jean Nouvel.

The proposal is one of ten answering a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy to re-invent Paris and its suburbs to be both ecologically sustainable and architecturally noteworthy.

All ten concepts will be part of a new exhibit, "Le Grand Paris," opening April 30, 2009, at the City of Architecture and Heritage museum in Paris.
