Second Place, Macro Photography

Amateur photographer Michael Rosenfeld of Connecticut snapped these two mandarin fish when he was 15. At 1 to 2 inches (2 to 5.5 centimeters) long, mandarin fish live in shallow coral reefs and are favored by researchers, because the fishes' striking designs make it easy to spot individuals and follow their behavior.
