Memorial Bridge, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Kittery, Maine

For more than 85 years, Memorial Bridge has connected two historic coastal towns in Maine and New Hampshire on either side of the Piscataqua River.

Inadequate funds for upkeep have forced the states to consider removing the bridge, which was placed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 2009 list of the 11 most endangered historic places in the United States.
