Hyderabad, India, March 19, 2009--A child falls backwards into a water tank to beat the heat a few days before World Water Day, which was observed on March 22.

More than a billion people in the developing world, including India, do not have access to clean water, and nearly two million kids under age 5 died last year from diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water and inadequate sanitation, according to USAID.
