Belem, Brazil, January 28, 2009--Indians gather to discuss the rights of indigenous peoples at the World Social Forum, which attracted some 100,000 activists from various countries.

The event, which took place during the worst global economic crisis in decades, was held in the Amazon region for the first time.

"I'm here to fight for land, health, and education," one Indian who gave his name only as Miguel told the Associated Press.
