Besançon, France, January 20, 2009--A three-week-old crowned sifaka at the Besançon Zoo in eastern France peers at the camera.

Native to Madagascar, the primate is listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species. Its wild population has dropped by more than half over the past three decades, mostly due to habitat loss and hunting, according to IUCN.
