Fruges, France, January 9, 2009--Workers put last touches on a wind turbine in a wind farm in northern France.

With its 70 turbines, the farm can produce 140 megawatts of green energy--enough to power about 150,000 households.

France recently announced a new wind and solar power initiative to increase the renewable share of its total energy consumption from 6.7 percent in 2004 to 20 percent by 2020, RenewableEnergyWorld.com reported.
