NASA's space shuttle Endeavour, riding piggyback on a modified Boeing 747 carrier aircraft, flies over California's Mojave Desert on it's way back to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida in a December 10 photo, released to the public on December 17.

The shuttle had landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California on November 30, after its mission to the International Space Station, because of bad weather at the planned landing site in Florida.

Endeavour's piggyback transfer cost more than U.S. $1.8 million, according to the Associated Press.
