Rome, Italy, November 20, 2008--An animal rights worker holds a pug puppy during a Thursday press conference on illegal dog trafficking.

The pug, a Jack Russell terrier, and a West Highland were recently confiscated from a Rome pet shop as part of an investigation conducted by the Italian forestry service.

In Italy, illegal trade in dog breeds brings in about U.S. $375 million a year.
