Kashipur, India, October 29, 2008--Indian women row across a lake during a boat race festival in this village about 46 miles (75 kilometers) northeast of Kolkata.

The annual competition is organized by a tribe of fishers as a way to preserve their culture, according to photographer Parth Sanyal.

The race is held the day after Kali Puja, a ceremony in which Hindus ask the goddess of death and destruction for help destroying evil.
