Beijing, China, October 2, 2008--Chinese police rest against a barricade near a stage at the Modern Sky Music Festival as a fan in the background surfs the crowd.

The three-day event coincided with a national holiday and was expected to draw about 30,000 fans daily to check out performances by rock, pop, and electronic musical acts.

Energy-efficient lighting and pamphlets printed on recycled paper were part of the festival's "green" theme, the China Daily reported.
