Chatsworth, California, October 13, 2008--Horses are evacuated from the Stoney Point Ranch and Riding Center as Santa Ana winds fan one of several wildfires scorching Southern California.

Many of the horses panicked as their owners attempted to convey a sense of calm. "They can sense it when you get nervous," Stefanie Post told the Los Angeles Daily News.

The Santa Ana winds sweep dry air through mountain passes and canyons between October and February, often spreading wildfires.
