Mexico City, Mexico, September 16, 2008--Soldiers march during an annual parade and display of force to mark Mexico's war of independence from Spain, which started on September 16, 1810.

Every year celebrants gather in central plazas the night before to observe the traditional grito, or shout, from Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla for independence.

This year the grito gathering in the town of Moreila was marred by a grenade attack launched by a drug gang. Seven people were killed.
