Wuhan, China, September 6, 2008--People and pets enjoy a tranquil evening on the shores of the Yangtze River--despite rising waters that threaten to swamp the central Chinese city of Wuhan.

As the sun set, days of torrential rains had swollen the river to nearly the 25-meter (82-foot) mark at which the capital of Hubei Province is expected to flood.

Four people were reported killed by the heavy rains, and three others remain missing.
