Tel Aviv, Israel, September 25, 2008--Paul McCartney performs in front of 40,000 fans at Ganei Yehoshua Park, the first concert by a Beatle in Israel.

The Fab Four were scheduled to perform in 1965, but were purportedly banned out of fears they would corrupt the nation's youth.

McCartney billed the concert "Friendship First" to promote peace between Israel and the Palestinians. He let the audience sing alone the chorus of "Give Peace a Chance," the Associated Press reported.
