Seoul, South Korea, August 5, 2008—Bernann McKinney of California smiles as she holds a puppy cloned from her former pit bull Booger at Seoul National University.

McKinney paid U.S. $50,000 for the clone to RNL Bio, a Seoul-based firm working with the university.

Martin Stephens of the Humane Society of the United States spoke out against pet cloning, telling the Associated Press that there are millions of homeless dogs and cats in the U.S., and "we don't need new sources to compete with animal shelters and reputable breeders."
