WEEK IN PHOTOS: Beached Whale, Treetop Walkway, More

London, United Kingdom, May 22, 2008—A new feature at London's Kew Gardens lets visitors ascend into the trees for a bird's-eye view of the park, then descend below for a worm's perspective.

The Xstrata Treetop Walkway (shown above) sits 59 feet (18 meters) high and winds some 660 feet (200 meters) through the canopy.

Down below, the park's Rhizotron exhibit takes visitors into what appears to be a crack in the ground, where a series of displays offers a glimpse into the relationship between tree roots and microorganisms in the soil.

Both exhibits officially open on May 24 as part of the park's Year of the Tree festival.
