Paris, France, May 21, 2008—A police officer huddles for cover from flares hurled by demonstrating fishers in front of the French capital's Agriculture Ministry building.

Over the past ten days, fishers have blockaded ports and oil depots in France to protest rising fuel prices and seek a government cap on the cost of diesel, wire agencies say.

But the frustrations came to a head on Wednesday during a meeting between industry leaders and government officials. Four officers guarding the agriculture ministry were injured, according to wire reports.
