Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has been moderating discussions between Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki and his opposition.

He hopes to help to end the largely ethnic conflict that has killed more than a thousand people since disputed presidential elections were held on December 27 in the usually relatively stable African country.
