25 Most Endangered Primates Named

Siau Island Tarsier (Indonesia)

Only a few thousand individuals still survive on Siau island, where hunters regularly kill the monkeys for a popular snack food called tola-tola, according to a new report.

This tarsier was named one of the 25 most endangered primates in the October 27, 2007, report by the Primate Specialist Group of the World Conservation Union's Species Survival Commission and the International Primatological Society, in collaboration with Conservation International.
