London, United Kingdom, September 10, 2007—Harrods department store worker Maggie Bartram watches Cedric—a deadly Egyptian cobra—guard a $125,000 dollar Rene Caovilla sandal inside a glass enclosure.

The highly venomous cobra was put on duty during Monday's launch of the luxury footwear collection, which includes the encrusted sandal with rubies, sapphires and diamonds.

A spokesperson for Harrods said the cobra was hired strictly for the launch and was late returned to its owner, the AFP news service reported.
