Washington, D.C. July 31, 2007—For now, this baby anteater, born July 24 at Smithsonian's National Zoo, goes by "Little Schnozzy."

Luckily the little tyke, whose photo was released Saturday, will be given a new moniker when its gender is determined in a few weeks.

The public will vote for the new name among choices including Aurora, Pilar, Cyrano, and Francisco.

Little Schnozzy was the first giant anteater, a species native to Central and South America, born at the zoo in 118 years.

The mother, Maripi, was expected to give birth in early August—so a zookeeper was surprised to come in one morning and find the baby clinging to its mother's chest.
