Vineyard worker Juan Vincelli is seeing an upsurge in popularity for Argentine wine.

Vineyards are taking water from the Andes mountains as it flows into the desert's underground water table.

Some scientists, such as Esteban Jobbagy, an agronomist at Argentina's National University of San Luis, suspect the grape irrigation is depleting the groundwater, a vital resource for the indigenous Huarpes who live in the Monte Desert.
