Superspeed in the Air: Peregrine Falcons

The fastest creature in the air, the peregrine falcon shows off its speed in a hunting technique known as the stoop.

The bird first soars high into the air, then free-falls directly at its preyspeeding as fast as 200 miles (322 kilometers) an hourkilling the other bird with a calculated collision. Then, the falcon rights itself, snatches its prey in midair, and lands to enjoy its feast.
