SPACE PHOTOS THIS WEEK: Shuttle Sparks, Mars Rock, More

August 4, 2009--Lightning flashes over Kennedy Space Center in Florida as the space shuttle Discovery rolls slowly toward Launch Pad 39A on Tuesday morning.

The shuttle, due to launch on August 25, is bound for the International Space Station. Discovery will deliver a new module, a new crew member, and several refrigerator-size racks of equipment, including the famed COLBERT treadmill.
