At almost 9,850 feet (3,000 meters) tall, the Zugspitze is Germany's highest mountain and a popular ski destination. But it and other peaks in the Alps have suffered significant ice loss in recent years, likely due to global warming. (Read "Alps Glaciers Gone by 2050, Expert Says.")
