Seosan, South Korea, September 8, 2008--The South Korean Air Force puts one of its F-4E Phantom fighters on ice to test its performance under extreme weather conditions.

Scientists at the Agency for Defense Development unveiled a new testing center where planes will be pitted against simulated snow and ice, bombarded with electromagnetic waves, and stewed in high humidity.

Tanks, guided weapons, and marine combat systems will also be tested in extreme conditions at the U.S. $91-million state-owned facility.
