N'Djamena, Chad, February 7, 2008The hand of a man, killed in fighting between rebels and government forces, is seen in the back of a truck in Chad's capital city.

Intended to oust President Idriss Diby, the rebellionwhich Chadian officials said was aided by the Sudanese governmentthis week left more than a hundred dead and hundreds injured. By week's end, government forces had largely quelled the fighting in N'Djamena.

Relief workers estimate that 50,000 people have fled Chad for Cameroon and Nigeria. The government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the capital and southern provinces.
