Küsnacht, Switzerland, December 5, 2007—Revelers dance through the streets of Küsnacht carrying iffelen—ornate hats up to seven feet (two meters) tall lit from within by candles.

The merrymaking is part of the village's annual Klausjagen—or St. Nicholas Hunt—festival. A pagan rite that has since been overlaid with Christian elements, the festival involves an elaborate parade.

The 20,000-some participants then celebrate late into the night.
