Everett, Washington, April 24, 2007— A Boeing 747 Dreamlifter sits with its tail section open on the tarmac of the Boeing factory in Everett, Washington. The enormous cargo plane arrived from Italy on Tuesday, April 24, with parts for the developmental Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger plane.

Boeing describes the Dreamliner as a super-efficient midsize commercial jet with the range of a much larger plane. The plane will have new design features, engines, and construction materials—all aimed at increasing its fuel efficiency.

Removed from the plane using the world's largest cargo loader, Tuesday's delivery included part of the new plane's horizontal stabilizer, made of lightweight, carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.
