Photo: Sky-watcher Beware: Mars Email a "Spectacular" Hoax

An email promising a "Mars spectacular" on August 27 claims that the red planet will appear as big as the full moon.

In reality, astronomers say, Mars will never be more than a brilliant orange-colored star to the naked eye, as seen above at right in a picture of the December 2007 sky over Tyler, Texas.
